ACA Announces 275-Player Pool for Inaugural APL Auction

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has unveiled the players' pool for the first edition of the Assam Premier League (APL), with 275 cricketers shortlisted from registered participants. The pool includes 20 marquee players and over 250 general category players, all set to be auctioned as franchises build their squads for the debut season.

The marquee list features top talent from Assam's senior domestic ranks, including batsmen and all-rounders Denish Das, Sibsankar Roy, Sumit Kashyap, Swarupam Purkayastha, and Jitumoni Kalita. Bowlers Mrinmoy Dutta, Muktar Hussain, Avinav Choudhary, Rahul Singh, Sadak Hussain, and Bhargab Pratim Lakhar headline the bowling group.

Marquee Players and Key Roles

Additional batting depth comes from Saahil Jain, Pradyun Saikia, and Saurav Mousum Dihingia. All-round strength is provided by Abdul Ajij Kuraishi, Akash Sengupta, and Ayushman Malakar. Wicketkeeping options include Sumit Ghadigaonkar, Rohit Sen, and Ruhinandan Pegu. All 20 marquee players have represented Assam in BCCI tournaments and are expected to attract strong bidding.

The APL Player Auction is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, where franchises will select their inaugural squads.

Pathway to BCCI Domestic Season

The league aims to provide a platform for Assam's cricketers to showcase their skills before selectors, feeding directly into player identification for the upcoming BCCI domestic season, according to an ACA release.
