BJP candidate Utpal Borah won the seat with 93,224 votes, while Congress candidate Ripun Bora finished second with 63,930 votes, losing by a margin of 29,294 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, Gohpur had 1,71,284 electors, with 1,46,618 valid votes recorded. BJP’s Utpal Borah won with 85,424 votes, defeating Congress candidate Monika Bora, who secured 56,489 votes.
