England thrashed India by 56 runs in the fifth T20I at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, completing a 4-0 series sweep. Jos Buttler's blistering 131 off 56 balls and skipper Harry Brook's unbeaten 95 off 48 balls propelled England to a mammoth 257 for three, their highest T20I total against India. In reply, India were restricted to 201 for eight, falling well short of the target.
Buttler and Brook's Record Stand
Buttler and Brook added 203 runs for the third wicket, the highest partnership for England in T20Is. Buttler's innings included 14 fours and 8 sixes, while Brook smashed 8 fours and 6 sixes. The duo took the attack to the Indian bowlers, who had no answer to their power-hitting. India's bowlers conceded 257 runs, the most they have ever conceded in a T20I at home.
India's Innings Falls Short
Chasing 258, India lost early wickets and never recovered. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored with 58 off 30 balls, but the required rate kept climbing. England's bowlers, led by Jofra Archer's 3 for 32, kept the pressure on. India finished at 201 for eight, handing England a comprehensive victory.
Series Sweep
England's 4-0 win is their first T20I series sweep against India. The only match India won was the second T20I, but England dominated the rest. Jos Buttler was named Player of the Series for his 312 runs in five innings. "It's a special feeling to win this series 4-0. The boys were outstanding," said Buttler after the match.
