Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday stated that the wheat procurement process in the state is proceeding smoothly, with record arrivals at mandis. He assured that the government is fully prepared to handle the bumper crop and ensure timely payments to farmers.
Smooth Procurement Operations
The CM highlighted that the state government has made extensive arrangements for procurement, including the deployment of adequate staff and machinery. He said that over 100 lakh metric tonnes of wheat are expected to be procured this season, surpassing previous records.
Facilities for Farmers
Saini emphasized that farmers are being provided with all necessary facilities at mandis, including shade, drinking water, and sanitation. He also mentioned that the payment process has been streamlined to ensure that farmers receive their dues within 48 hours of sale.
The Chief Minister visited several mandis in the state to personally oversee the procurement operations and interact with farmers. He expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and directed officials to maintain the momentum.
Government Support
The state government has also launched a helpline number for farmers to report any issues related to procurement. Additionally, the minimum support price (MSP) for wheat has been fixed at Rs 2,275 per quintal, providing a fair price to growers.
Saini reiterated the government's commitment to the welfare of farmers and said that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure a hassle-free procurement season.
