Jamshedpur FC returned to winning ways with a dominant 4-1 victory over Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Thursday. The hosts put on an impressive display, scoring four goals to secure their second win of the season.
First Half Fireworks
The home side started brightly and took the lead in the 15th minute through a well-worked goal. Daniel Chima Chukwu opened the scoring with a clinical finish after a neat pass from Ritwik Das. Jamshedpur doubled their advantage just before half-time when Ritwik Das turned from provider to scorer, slotting home from close range after a corner kick caused chaos in the Chennaiyin box.
Second Half Control
Chennaiyin FC pulled one back early in the second half through Rahim Ali, who capitalized on a defensive error to make it 2-1. However, Jamshedpur quickly restored their two-goal cushion when Boris Singh scored a stunning long-range effort in the 55th minute. The hosts sealed the win in the 78th minute as Daniel Chima Chukwu scored his second of the night, heading home from a free-kick delivery.
The victory moves Jamshedpur FC up to sixth in the ISL standings with eight points from seven matches, while Chennaiyin FC remain in eighth place with six points. Jamshedpur head coach Aidy Boothroyd praised his team's attacking intent, saying, 'We were clinical in front of goal and defended well when needed. This is the standard we need to maintain.'
Chennaiyin FC coach Thomas Brdaric admitted his side were second best, stating, 'We made too many mistakes and were punished by a good Jamshedpur team. We need to learn from this and come back stronger.'
The result ends a run of three matches without a win for Jamshedpur, who will look to build on this performance in their next fixture against Odisha FC. Chennaiyin, meanwhile, will aim to bounce back when they face Bengaluru FC.
