Jalandhar's Manthan Dogra secured a hard-fought victory over Haryana's Lavneet Rana with scores of 16-14, 15-9 to advance in the boys' Under-17 category on the opening day of the North Zone Cash Prize Tournament. The event, organized by the Chandigarh Badminton Association, is being held at the Sector 38 sports complex in Chandigarh.
Boys' U-17 Results
Several other players also progressed in the U-17 category. Tanush Prashar defeated Keshav 15-3, 15-6, while Arnav Goyal of ABC Club, Patiala, beat Darshan Shikhwal of Sharma Academy 15-2, 15-7. Hitesh Saini of Yamunanagar ousted Shashank Malik of TSBA 15-1, 15-0 in a one-sided match. Shreyansh Dhaiya overcame Gurnoor Singh Virdi of PNB 15-10, 15-8, and Harshdeep Singh of Hoshiarpur defeated Vaibhav Pal 15-6, 15-2. Hardik Swami of Sector 34 centre beat Uppal Anhad 15-6, 15-12. Nikhil Verma of PNB faced a tough challenge but eventually defeated Naman 18-20, 15-11, 15-8. Gurbaksh Singh Bhullar recorded a comeback win against Hardik, winning 14-16, 15-8, 15-6.
Other winners included Bhavik, who beat Guneet 15-12, 16-14; Vansh Sood, who outplayed Adhiraaj Singh 17-15, 15-7; Shouryaveer, who defeated Nikhil 15-7, 15-3; and Sujal Singla, who beat Ankit Vishwakarma 15-11, 15-10.
Boys' U-13 and U-11 Categories
In the boys' Under-13 event, Viraj Gupta advanced by defeating Saksham Tomar 15-3, 15-9. Vyom managed to beat Ludhiana's Vanshil Gupta 15-5, 13-15, 15-7. Prabhav Parashar lost the first set 14-16 but bounced back to win 15-6, 15-12 against Swaransh Jumiyal. Yuvan Bansal defeated Aarav 15-1, 15-10. Sartaj Singh ousted Mohali's Daiwick Bansal 15-5, 15-5, and Darsh beat Dhairya Bhardwaj 15-9, 15-5. Karmanjot Singh moved into the next round by defeating Anav Mahajan 15-6, 15-10, while Aaryan registered a 15-12, 18-16 win over Lakshith Rewar. Gurfateh Singh also logged a win over Harsimar Singh with a margin of 15-11, 15-9.
In the boys' Under-11 category, Pranjay Saini defeated Vrehaan Jaswal 15-1, 15-5; Teghbir Singh ousted Parv Vashisht 15-7, 15-10; and Samarveer recorded a 15-9, 15-10 win over Agamjot Singh. Vedant Kawatra beat Jaskirat Singh Chahal 15-4, 15-12, while Madhav Jagga won his match against Arry 15-12, 12-15, 15-12.
Girls' Categories
In the girls' Under-13 qualifier, Aadya Singh Meena defeated Sunder Kaur 15-3, 15-10. Ramyra Gauba beat Manasvi Sharma 15-6, 15-3. Omisha Bhardwaj defeated Chandigarh's Viranshi Sood 15-11, 15-8, and Nimrat Kaur Mann of Jalandhar beat Ludhiana's Tania Dhiman 15-11, 15-9. Local contender Pari marched into the next round by defeating Navsheen Kaur 15-9, 15-2, and Divisha Wadhera beat Bhavkirat Kaur 15-8, 15-8. Ashwika defeated Japman Kaur 15-9, 15-9, and Navya Janghu posted a hard-earned win over Shanvi Sharma 11-15, 15-10, 17-15.
In the girls' Under-17 qualifier, Paavni Gupta beat Aadya 15-13, 15-10, and Kashvi defeated Shruti 15-13, 15-12. Vaani Panchal cleared the round of 64 by defeating Jot Parkash Kaur 15-4, 15-3, while Priyanshi Choudhary of Jaipur won against Aunika Duggal 8-15, 15-11, 16-14. Jivika Sohlot defeated local challenger Kushmanjot Kaur 15-3, 15-4.
U-15 Girls' Results
In the Under-15 category, Karnal's Unnati defeated Ravya Dhiman of Dharamsala 15-8, 15-13, and Bhavika logged a 15-6, 15-6 win over Japman Kaur. Tanishka Pant ousted Vrinda Singh 15-0, 15-3, and Mannat Kaur of Patiala beat Manmeet Kaur 15-8, 15-10. Representing the hosts, Riddhima defeated Vaani 15-10, 15-12; Jasneet Kaur ousted Deepti 4-15, 15-12, 15-13; and Ananya stunned Amayra with an 18-16, 13-15, 15-9 comeback win.
