Rohtak Student Overcomes Personal Tragedy to Achieve IAF Dream
Sagar Solanki, a B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering student at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, has been selected for the Indian Air Force. He secured All India Rank (AIR) 61 in the final merit list, earning a place in the Aeronautical Engineering Branch as an Under Training Flying Officer.
The selection process was conducted by the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) in Gandhinagar. According to Pankaj Nain, Public Relations Officer at MDU, Sagar faced a personal tragedy just days before the selection process with the sudden demise of his father. Despite this difficult situation, he remained determined, fulfilled all family responsibilities, and appeared for the selection process. Owing to his outstanding performance, he was recommended by the Services Selection Board (SSB) and subsequently cleared the medical examination to secure AIR-61.
Dedication to Late Father and University Pride
Sagar credited his success to the support and blessings of his late father, family members, teachers, and friends. "Becoming an officer in the Indian Air Force had been Sagar’s childhood dream, and he dedicated this achievement to his late father," Nain added.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Milap Punia congratulated Sagar and his family, calling the achievement a matter of pride for the university. He described Sagar’s success as an inspiring example of courage, determination, and dedication. "Even in the most challenging circumstances, he did not compromise on his goal. This achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a source of inspiration for young people striving to achieve their dreams despite adversities," Punia said.
University Officials Extend Congratulations
UIET Director Prof Vineet Kumar Singla and Training and Placement Officer Arun Hooda also congratulated Sagar and wished him success in his future endeavors. Sagar will soon undergo training as an Under Training Flying Officer in the Aeronautical Engineering Branch of the Indian Air Force.
