Namibia Women's Cricket Team to Play 4-Match Series vs Assam from Jan 8
Namibia Women's Cricket Team to Tour Assam for 4 Matches

In a significant boost for women's cricket in the region, the senior women's national team of Namibia is set to embark on a tour of Assam for a bilateral white-ball series. This friendly engagement, comprising four matches, is scheduled to commence on January 8, marking a historic moment for Assam cricket on the international stage.

Series Details and Schedule

The tour is a result of a reciprocal agreement between the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) and Cricket Namibia. The Namibian squad is expected to land in Assam on January 6, giving them two days to acclimatize before the action begins.

The series will feature a mix of formats, with two One-Day matches followed by two T20 Internationals. Sanatan Das, the Secretary of the ACA, confirmed the fixtures on Friday. He emphasized that this international series represents a major milestone, not just for Assam but for fostering sporting diplomacy between India and Namibia.

Venues for the Historic Clash

The cricketing action will be spread across two venues in Assam. The Mangaldai Stadium will host the two One-Day games and the first of the T20 matches. The series finale, the second T20, will be played at the ACA Cricket Academy Ground located in Fulung, North Guwahati.

This tour strengthens the existing cricketing bond between the two boards. It follows the Assam senior men’s team's tour of Namibia last year, establishing a pattern of mutual exchange and development.

A Platform for Growth and Competition

ACA Secretary Sanatan Das highlighted the broader importance of the series. He stated that it provides an excellent platform for players from both sides to showcase their talent, competitive spirit, and the true essence of sportsmanship. For the Assam women's team, facing an international side offers invaluable exposure and experience.

This series is poised to put Assam's cricket infrastructure in the spotlight and promises to deliver exciting contests as both teams look to gain crucial match practice and build momentum in the international arena.
