Mahesh Narayanan's highly anticipated action thriller 'Patriot', which brings together Malayalam cinema legends Mammootty and Mohanlal on screen after a long gap, is continuing its theatrical run but with a noticeable slowdown in momentum. The film, which opened to strong expectations and significant pre-release buzz, is now experiencing a gradual decline in daily collections.
Day 13 Box Office Performance
On its thirteenth day in theaters, 'Patriot' collected a net amount of Rs 35 lakhs, as reported by Sacnilk. This marks a drop of approximately 25.5% compared to the previous day's collection of Rs 47 lakhs. The film registered these earnings from around 810 shows across India. With this, the total India net collection has reached Rs 31.15 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 36.14 crore. The overseas market continues to contribute strongly, with international earnings reported at Rs 43.15 crore, pushing the worldwide gross total to Rs 79.29 crore.
Occupancy Trends on Day 13
The overall occupancy on Day 13 was recorded at 8.24%. The morning shows opened weakly at 2.58%, followed by improved but still moderate turnout in later slots. Afternoon occupancy stood at 7.25%, evening shows rose to 9.50%, and night shows closed at 8.33%.
Day-Wise Breakdown
The film's recent performance indicates a plateauing phase after the initial run. On Day 11, which was the second Monday, it earned Rs 47 lakhs from 912 shows with 11.0% occupancy. Day 12, the second Tuesday, maintained the same Rs 47 lakhs from 902 shows, again recording 11.0% occupancy. Day 13 saw a slip to Rs 35 lakhs from 810 shows, with occupancy dropping to 10.0%.
The narrative of 'Patriot' builds around the mission of Mammootty and Mohanlal's characters to dismantle a dangerous network that threatens national security.
Audience Reactions
One online review stated: "This is a much anticipated movie where both big M's of Mollywood united after a long time, it creates lots of expectations in the mind of movie goers, but it only delivers to a small extent and overall the movie is not that great or very bad. The main positives are of course Mohanlal and Mammootty, major drawback for me was the lack of a strong plot and lengthy duration of the movie. I would say there were some high moments but the movie should have been cut short by at least 40 to 50 minutes to make it more engaging."
Another viewer offered a more balanced take on the film's execution, stating: "The core storyline isn't entirely novel. Similar thematic elements were explored in recent Malayalam films like JSK and Hridayapoorvam, albeit as subplots. However, Patriot attempts to present this idea on a much grander canvas. Talking about the positive factors; Manush Nandan's cinematography was rich and it gives a class appeal. Editing of Mahesh Narayanan and Rahul Radhakrishnan was crisp and sharp."
