PSPCL Suspends Leave for Technical Staff Amid Paddy Transplantation

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has suspended leave for all technical staff until September 15 to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the paddy transplantation season. Field employees have been directed to remain available for quick repairs and fault rectification.

Measures to Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply

With paddy transplantation in full swing across Punjab, PSPCL has implemented several measures to maintain reliable power supply. The corporation has established a 24x7 control room at its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Centre in Ludhiana. Farmers and consumers can report faults and outages directly to shift engineers by calling 96461-22070, 96461-22158, 96461-21408, or 96461-21409.

PSPCL Chief Engineer Jagdev Singh Hans emphasized the importance of timely power supply, stating, “Even minor delays in rectifying faults could disrupt irrigation schedules for farmers. Keeping this in view, we are taking every possible measure to keep services running as it is a crucial period for farmers.”

Farmers Depend on Reliable Electricity

For farmers working long hours in waterlogged fields to transplant paddy, electricity supply is as critical as water. Amrik Singh, a farmer from a village near Jagraon, said, “We can’t afford any outage during this period. A few hours of delay can upset the entire cycle.”

Hans added, “We are ensuring complaints are addressed quickly. As a precautionary measure, we have put restrictions on leave due to the ongoing paddy season.”

No Leave for Field Staff Until September 15

The leave suspension applies to all technical staff, including field employees responsible for maintenance and repairs. This measure aims to minimize downtime and ensure that any power disruptions are rectified at the earliest, supporting farmers during the critical transplantation period.
