Dumka: A tragic accident on the Deoghar Bypass Circular Road late Tuesday night resulted in the death of one person and injuries to two others after a speeding truck collided with two e-rickshaws and a motorbike. According to police, the deceased was the driver of one of the e-rickshaws and died instantly at the scene. However, his identity remained unconfirmed as of late Wednesday.
Details of the Injured
The other e-rickshaw driver, identified as Roshan Kumar, along with Santosh Kumar, who was riding a motorbike, were admitted to Deoghar Sadar Hospital. Roshan, a resident of Barmasia under Nagar police station area, suffered a crushed leg in the accident. Santosh, a resident of Supaul district in Bihar, also sustained injuries. Both were later referred to a higher medical center for advanced treatment.
Investigation Underway
Upon receiving information, a police team from Town police station arrived at the accident site and seized the truck. However, the truck driver managed to escape from the scene. An official at Town police station stated, “CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined for further probe.” The official also confirmed that the body has been sent for postmortem examination. Authorities are actively working to identify the deceased and apprehend the fleeing driver.
