Kochi: A 46-year-old woman was killed after a truck rammed her scooter in Vazhakulam early on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Anisha Moosa, a resident of Marady. The accident took place around 6:35 am at Ancham Mile in Avoli, Muvattupuzha. The truck, which was heading towards Muvattupuzha from Thodupuzha, collided with the scooter coming from the opposite direction. Although she was rushed to Muvattupuzha General Hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Legal Action Against Truck Driver
Vazhakulam police have registered a case against the truck driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertain to causing death by negligence and rash driving. The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy. It is suspected that the truck driver may have dozed off and lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal crash.
Body Found on Railway Track
In a separate incident, police discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his 50s, on the railway track near Aluva on Sunday. According to Aluva police, the loco pilot of the Karakkal Express reported that someone had been hit by the train between Aluva and Pulinchode Metro station. A police team that inspected the scene later found the man's body. Authorities are working to identify the victim.
