The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ombudsman, Justice Arun Mishra (Retd.), has disqualified Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary Santosh Menon for exceeding the maximum permissible tenure of nine years. The order, issued on June 25, 2026, follows a complaint by Dolphin Cricketers, an institutional member of KSCA.
Ombudsman's Ruling on Cumulative Tenure
Justice Mishra conducted an extensive review of the BCCI Constitution, KSCA Rules, the Justice Lodha Committee recommendations, and relevant Supreme Court judgments. The ruling establishes that tenure served in different capacities within KSCA must be cumulatively counted to determine disqualification. The Ombudsman found that Menon had completed nine years in KSCA as of December 16, 2025, rendering him ineligible to continue as Secretary.
Consequently, the office of the Secretary, KSCA, has been declared vacant, and the BCCI and KSCA have been directed to implement the order immediately.
Impact on Cricket Governance
The decision reinforces governance reforms in Indian cricket, ensuring tenure restrictions and cooling-off provisions are applied strictly. It underscores the commitment to accountability, transparency, and constitutional norms within cricketing institutions.
