ITBP striker Sahil delivered a stunning performance, scoring seven goals to lead his team to a commanding 16-2 victory over SGGS Hockey Club, Sector 26 (Red), in the ongoing Chandigarh State Hockey Championship. The match, held at the Sector 42 sports complex on Saturday, saw ITBP dominate from start to finish.

The scoring opened early with Moirang finding the net, followed by Vijay doubling the lead in the 18th minute. Sahil registered his first goal in the 25th minute, but SGGS responded when Sachin pulled one back in the 31st minute. However, Sahil quickly restored ITBP's two-goal cushion by converting a penalty corner just two minutes later.

Second-half onslaught seals emphatic victory

After halftime, ITBP unleashed a relentless attack. Moirang scored his second goal in the 44th minute, and Vijay added another in the 46th. Sahil then went on a scoring spree, netting in the 48th, 51st, 55th, 56th, and 59th minutes. Taranjot contributed three goals (50th, 52nd, 57th), Gurwinder scored in the 54th, and Moirang completed his hat-trick in the 56th. Nishant managed a consolation goal for SGGS in the 57th minute, but ITBP's lead was insurmountable.

According to the Tribune News Service, the match showcased ITBP's offensive prowess, with Sahil emerging as the standout player. His seven goals were instrumental in the team's largest margin of victory in the tournament so far.

SGGS Blue stuns Audit General Punjab 4-2

In another match, SGGS Hockey Club, Sector 26 (Blue), secured a 4-2 upset over Audit General Punjab. The team started strongly, with Angadbir scoring in the second minute and Jaid doubling the lead in the ninth. Gurpartap reduced the deficit for Audit General, but SGGS Blue regained control with a goal in the 40th minute. Shivam extended the lead in the 46th, while Sandeep scored a late goal for Audit General in the 60th minute, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

The championship continues at the Sector 42 sports complex, with teams vying for top honors in Chandigarh's premier hockey tournament.
