Novak Djokovic produced a masterclass performance to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of Wimbledon 2026 on Thursday. The Serbian legend, chasing a record-extending eighth Wimbledon title, needed just two hours and 15 minutes to dispatch the Greek star on Centre Court.

Djokovic broke Tsitsipas early in the first set and never looked back. He won 82% of his first-serve points and saved all three break points he faced. The 24-time Grand Slam champion also hit 32 winners against 19 unforced errors, dictating play from the baseline.
Tsitsipas, the world No. 11, struggled to find his rhythm against Djokovic's relentless returns. He committed 28 unforced errors and managed only two break-point opportunities, which Djokovic snuffed out. The Greek player's frustration boiled over in the third set when he smashed his racket after losing a crucial point.
Key Statistics and Milestones
Djokovic's victory marked his 95th win at Wimbledon, tying him with Jimmy Connors for the third-most in the Open Era. He also extended his winning streak against Tsitsipas to 12 matches, having never lost to the Greek in their head-to-head encounters. The Serbian's record at Wimbledon now stands at 95 wins and 11 losses.
“I felt great out there. The conditions were perfect and I executed my game plan well. Stefanos is a tough opponent, but I managed to stay focused and play aggressive tennis,” Djokovic said in his on-court interview.
What's Next for Djokovic
Djokovic will face either Alex de Minaur or Lorenzo Musetti in the third round. The Serbian is aiming to win his 25th Grand Slam title, which would break the all-time record he currently shares with Margaret Court. He has not dropped a set in the tournament so far, having beaten lucky loser Aleksandar Vukic in straight sets in the first round.
Tsitsipas, a two-time Grand Slam finalist, has now lost in the second round of Wimbledon for the third consecutive year. He praised Djokovic's performance, saying, “Novak played unbelievable tennis. He didn't give me any chances and was aggressive on every point. I need to work harder to reach his level.”
