Efforts are underway to bring Formula 1 back to India by 2030, along with rounds of the World Rally Championship (WRC) and MotoGP by 2028, according to FMSCI President Arindam Ghosh. The announcement followed a meeting with the Sports Ministry in New Delhi.
Meeting with Sports Ministry
Earlier in March, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had pushed to revive Formula One in India, convening a meeting with the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) to discuss a framework aimed at creating a strong pipeline of drivers and technicians.
Speaking at the FMSCI Annual Awards function, Ghosh stated, "The meeting with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State Raksha Khadse, senior officials, and potential stakeholders in New Delhi focused primarily on bringing F1, MotoGP, and a round of the WRC to India."
Focus on Driver Development
Ghosh emphasized the federation's emphasis on developing Indian drivers and advancing motorsports overall in India. "The FMSCI’s inputs were well received," he added.
Annual Awards Night
At the Awards Night held in Bengaluru, all motorsports national champions for 2025 were honored. A total of 137 trophies across 17 disciplines, including both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, were presented. Awards were also given to winning teams, promoters, and sponsors of the 17 national championships.
