Udupi: Officials from the food and civil supplies department seized 21 commercial LPG cylinders allegedly stored without authorisation at a residence near Malpe Junction in Udupi taluk.
Inspection Conducted
Based on a complaint, Asha K, along with food inspector Hitesh UB, visited the premises of Sanath Kamath near Malpe Junction in Kodavoor village on Wednesday and conducted an inspection.
Findings and Admission
During the inspection, officials found 21 commercial LPG cylinders, including 12 filled 19 kg cylinders and nine 5 kg cylinders stored on the premises. When questioned, Sanath reportedly admitted he had stocked the cylinders for sale to individuals who used them for fishing. He also stated that he did not possess any licence or documents authorising such storage or sale.
Legal Action
Hence, the officials seized the 21 commercial cylinders. Malpe police have registered a case under sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act and sections 4 and 7 of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Supply and Distribution Regulation) Order, 2000.
