Mangaluru: A total of 5,570 candidates from Dakshina Kannada have registered for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) re-examination, scheduled for Sunday. The exam will be conducted across 12 centres in the district, all under the jurisdiction of Mangaluru city.
Preparatory Meeting Held
A preparatory meeting regarding the re-examination was held on Friday at the deputy commissioner’s office, presided over by additional deputy commissioner Raju K. During the meeting, he emphasized that all preparations must ensure the NEET re-examination is malpractice-free, transparent, and systematic. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has provided the necessary inspection equipment and personnel, Raju stated.
Security Measures in Place
The exam is being conducted under strict security with the deployment of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) alongside local police. A 30-member CAPF team will arrive in Mangaluru for this purpose. Local armed police will also be deployed at every centre. The NTA has appointed two nodal officers to oversee the exam in the district, according to the additional DC.
Electronic items such as mobile phones, pen drives, earphones, microphones, and Bluetooth devices are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Photography and the use of mobile phones by students and staff are completely banned. CCTV surveillance will be in place, and centre heads must ensure the systems are functional beforehand.

Students may enter the centres between 11 am and 1:30 pm. The test will be held from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. Coordination between the police, treasury, and other relevant departments has been established to ensure a smooth process, Raju added.
