A moving motorcycle suddenly caught fire on Kollamparambil Road near Deshabhimani Junction in Kochi on Monday night, resulting in minor burn injuries for the rider. The incident occurred around 9 pm, causing panic in the area.

The rider, identified as Jibin of Pachakkad in Idukki, sustained minor burns on his right hand, according to officials from the Gandhinagar fire force. While riding, Jibin heard a loud thud emanating from the bike, and moments later, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. He quickly stopped the motorcycle and ran away from the spot to safety.
The fire rapidly spread from the bike to a nearby electric pole, causing the cables to burn. This led to a disruption in the electricity supply in the surrounding area. A team from the Gandhinagar fire station promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire, preventing further damage.
Aftermath and Investigation
Fire officials have stated that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation. The electricity connection in the area was affected, and repairs were initiated to restore power. No other injuries or significant property damage were reported.
