BSNL Introduces 200 Mbps AirFiber Plan with 5TB Data and OTT Perks
State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new AirFiber broadband plan offering speeds up to 200 Mbps. The plan comes with a generous 5TB monthly data cap, unlimited voice calling, and subscriptions to multiple OTT platforms, according to company officials.
Plan Pricing and Data Benefits
The new BSNL AirFiber plan is priced at Rs. 1,499 per month. Subscribers get 5TB of high-speed data, after which the speed reduces to 1 Mbps. The plan includes unlimited local and STD calls to any network, as per BSNL's tariff sheet.
OTT Subscriptions Included
Customers opting for this plan will receive complimentary access to popular OTT services including Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, and Zee5. The exact duration of the subscriptions is yet to be confirmed by BSNL, but industry sources indicate a 12-month validity for each platform.
Comparison with Other Plans
BSNL currently offers lower-tier AirFiber plans starting at Rs. 499 for 30 Mbps speed. The new 200 Mbps plan competes directly with private players like JioFiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber, which offer similar speeds at comparable prices but with varying data limits.
Availability and Installation
The plan is available for both new and existing BSNL AirFiber customers. Installation charges are waived for the first 30 days from launch. BSNL also provides a free Wi-Fi router for the first year, as per the company's press release.
Impact on Broadband Market
According to telecom analysts, BSNL's aggressive pricing and bundled OTT benefits could increase its market share in the fixed broadband segment. The company had earlier reported a 15% growth in its broadband subscriber base in the previous quarter, driven by its AirFiber services.
