The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that candidates affected by a technical glitch during the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026 will be given another opportunity to appear for the examination. The disruption caused distress to some candidates who had completed biometric registration and were present at the centres on May 30 during Shift-I but could not complete their test.
Details of the Technical Glitch
The NTA confirmed that CUET-UG 2026 faced disruptions at several centres due to a technical issue reported by the service provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The agency stated that the problem has been resolved and examinations are being conducted with compensatory time provided to affected candidates.
Impact on Candidates
Nearly 95% of the 73,000 registered candidates successfully completed the test. However, around 3,765 candidates left the examination centres before the resumption of the test. These candidates will be given a rescheduled examination to ensure they are not disadvantaged by the technical glitch.
Action Taken
The NTA has directed TCS to submit a root-cause analysis report to prevent such issues in the future. The agency emphasised its commitment to conducting fair and smooth examinations for all candidates.
