DSMNRU Students to Access IIT Roorkee Virtual Labs for Online Experiments
DSMNRU Students Get IIT Roorkee Virtual Labs Access

Students at Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) in Lucknow will now have the opportunity to conduct practical experiments online through the virtual laboratories of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. This development marks a significant step in making advanced educational resources accessible to all, particularly for students with disabilities.

DSMNRU Recognized as Virtual Labs Nodal Centre

The DSMNRU has been officially designated as a virtual labs nodal centre by IIT Roorkee. This recognition allows DSMNRU students to access a wide range of online simulation-based experiments in engineering, technology, and science. These virtual labs use digital, simplified models of real-world systems, enabling students to test scenarios, predict outcomes, and analyze behaviors without the need for physical risk or high costs.

Benefits for Students with Disabilities

According to DSMNRU spokesperson Yashwant Virodai, "This initiative will make the learning process more effective, particularly for students with disabilities." The virtual labs provide an inclusive learning environment where students can perform experiments at their own pace, overcoming physical barriers that might exist in traditional laboratory settings.

Infrastructure and Requirements

The university will provide the necessary infrastructure, including computers and internet facilities, to ensure that all students can access the IIT Roorkee labs seamlessly. It will be mandatory for the university to organize at least one workshop per semester to familiarize students with the virtual lab platform. Importantly, no additional fee will be charged from students for this facility, ensuring equal access to quality education.

This partnership between DSMNRU and IIT Roorkee is expected to enhance the learning experience by offering hands-on practical training in a virtual environment. Students can explore complex concepts and perform experiments that were previously limited by resource constraints. The initiative aligns with the broader goal of leveraging technology to bridge gaps in education and promote inclusive learning.
