Waterlogging disrupts traffic in Karwar
In Karwar city, persistent downpours have led to severe waterlogging on roads, particularly in KHB Colony. Motorists faced significant struggles while commuting, with vehicles moving slowly through inundated streets. The situation has raised concerns about drainage infrastructure and the potential for further disruptions if rains continue.
Impact on residents and response
Local authorities have urged residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel. The damaged houses in Jalavalli are being assessed for structural safety, and relief measures are being coordinated by district officials. No casualties have been reported so far.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast more rain in the region over the next 24-48 hours, increasing the risk of additional landslides and flash floods. Residents are advised to stay updated through official channels and follow safety guidelines.
