Hyderabad: In a significant inter-state operation, sleuths from the Eagle Force intercepted a vehicle transporting ganja in Odisha and seized 500 kilograms of the contraband, valued at approximately Rs 2.5 crore. The seized narcotics were subsequently handed over to the Odisha police for further investigation.
Operation Details
The operation, aimed at apprehending offenders at the source areas supplying ganja to Telangana, involved an Eagle Force patrolling team led by Sub-Inspector K Ravi Prasad. The team tailed a vehicle from Balimela to Jeypore, covering nearly 80 kilometers during the early hours of Thursday.
“After a daring chase through the deep jungle, our team managed to stop the vehicle. However, taking advantage of the forest, hilly terrain, and poor visibility, the accused driver managed to escape,” an Eagle Force official stated.
Seizure and Legal Action
Upon stopping the vehicle, the sleuths recovered 115 packets of ganja, weighing a total of 500 kilograms. The contraband was handed over to the Koraput police in Odisha, and a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to police records, the vehicle is registered in the name of Amir Ali Khan, a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Nabarangapur district, Odisha.
Previous Operations
