The Government Toolroom and Training Centre (GTTC) in Mangaluru has received around 65% admission applications for its diploma courses for the academic year 2026-27, with the remaining seats still open for enrollment.
Current Admission Status
Inviting applications from interested students, Lakshminarayana CR, principal of GTTC, informed the media on Friday that the institute has approximately 150 seats, of which 100 are already filled. He emphasized that the courses offered are in high demand, and many alumni are currently employed in global companies.
Courses and Remaining Seats
The centre, located in Baikampady, offers four-year diploma programs in mechanical engineering-related fields such as Tool and Die Making and Precision Manufacturing, as well as a computer science-related diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Several seats remain available in these programs.
Among the offerings, Tool and Die Making and Precision Manufacturing diplomas are the most sought-after courses at the institute.
Lack of Awareness and Future Plans
The principal noted that many students are unaware of the courses available at GTTC. He also mentioned a proposal to relocate the institute to a site near Mudipu to enhance accessibility.
Internship and Eligibility
Students are required to complete a one-year mandatory internship with a stipend ranging from Rs 18,000 to Rs 23,000 at top companies. Candidates who have passed matriculation are eligible to apply, according to an official release.
