Magadh University Implements Samarth Portal for Digital Transformation

Gaya: Magadh University (MU), Bodh Gaya, has taken a significant step towards digital governance by operationalising 17 of the 40 modules of the Samarth portal. This digital platform is designed to streamline academic, administrative, and financial functions while promoting paperless operations across the university.

Samarth Portal Modules Now Functional

MU Registrar Binod Kumar Mangalam stated that Samarth is among the university's top priorities. Several key modules related to admissions, examinations, degree issuance, personnel management, manpower utilisation, and leave administration have already become functional. Mangalam acknowledged initial challenges but assured that a dedicated team is working hard to improvise the functional aspects and ensure smooth operation. The remaining 23 modules will be made operational in a time-bound manner.

Admission Process and Data Migration

Regarding admissions, Mangalam explained that a private agency previously hired for admission management will continue to conduct this year's undergraduate admission process, as all applicant data remains with the agency. Once admissions are completed, the data will be transferred to the Samarth portal for post-admission activities, including admit card generation and publication of results. The postgraduate admission process will be conducted directly on the Samarth module.

Digital Academic Identity and DigiLocker Integration

The university is also committed to implementing the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR), which provides students with a lifelong digital academic identity. Mangalam further claimed that 4.5 lakh degrees and certificates of MU students have already been uploaded to DigiLocker, with the remaining documents to be uploaded soon.

This initiative marks a major leap towards modernising university operations and enhancing efficiency for students and staff alike.
