Man Arrested for Raping, Blackmailing Minor in Bhopal

A disturbing incident has come to light in Bhopal, where a 16-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly raped and blackmailed by a man she befriended on social media. The accused, who has been arrested by the police, allegedly trapped the minor by luring her to a hotel under the pretext of an outing. Once inside the hotel room, he intimidated and raped her.

Details of the Case

According to the police, the teenager connected with the accused on Instagram a few months ago. In January, he convinced her to meet him at a hotel, where he committed the crime. When the girl tried to distance herself from him, the accused allegedly sent her private photographs to her family members as a form of blackmail. The family attempted to intervene and confront the youth to resolve the matter, but he misbehaved with them and issued threats.

Police Action

Acting on a complaint filed by the victim's family, the police on Tuesday registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was arrested and is currently in police custody. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
