Belagavi Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase announced on Tuesday that a man has been arrested for allegedly uploading child pornographic videos on social media. The accused, identified as Srinath Patil, is accused of sharing videos depicting minors through Instagram on December 15, 2024.
Details of the Case
According to police officials, the incident came to light after a complaint was filed regarding the illegal content. The Cyber Crime Police immediately launched an investigation and traced the accused. Patil was taken into custody and is currently being interrogated.
Commissioner Borase stated that the police are committed to cracking down on such heinous crimes and ensuring the safety of children online. He urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to child exploitation.
Legal Proceedings
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigations are underway to determine if there are more individuals involved in the network.
Police have also seized digital devices from the accused for forensic analysis. The authorities are working to identify and remove all such illegal content from social media platforms.
