Meta has officially launched Instagram Plus, a premium subscription service in India, priced at Rs 299 per month. This new tier offers users exclusive features designed to enhance their Instagram experience, including Story Spotlight, Super Hearts, multiple story audiences, extended story duration, and various customisation options such as custom app icons and bio fonts.
Exclusive Features and Personalisation
Instagram Plus brings a suite of exclusive features aimed at power users. Story Spotlight allows users to highlight their stories for longer periods, while Super Hearts provide a way to show extra appreciation for content. Users can also create multiple story audiences to share content with specific groups, and extend the duration of their stories beyond the standard 24 hours. Customisation options include the ability to change app icons, choose unique bio fonts, and pin up to six posts to their profile to highlight important content.
Pricing and Comparison
The subscription costs Rs 299 per month in India, which translates to an annual cost of Rs 3,588. This pricing makes Instagram Plus more expensive than WhatsApp Plus, another Meta-owned premium service, which costs Rs 79 per month. The higher price point reflects the additional features and personalisation tools offered by Instagram Plus.
Gradual Rollout
Currently, Instagram Plus is available only to a limited number of users in India. Meta has confirmed that the feature will be gradually rolled out to all Instagram users in the country over time. Users who do not yet see the option to subscribe can expect it to appear in the coming weeks.
With this launch, Meta continues to expand its premium subscription offerings, following the success of WhatsApp Plus. The move is seen as a way to monetise its platforms further while providing enhanced experiences for dedicated users.
