In alignment with the goals of the National Education Policy, MITS Deemed to be University recently hosted a specialized technical training program focused on modern automotive technologies. Organized for students across the mechanical, electronics and communication, and electrical and electronics engineering departments, the initiative was held in collaboration with the Automobile Skill Development Council (ASDC), New Delhi, and Eicher Motors.
Mobile Training Van as a Moving Laboratory
The training was centered around the innovative Eicher Mobile Training Van, which served as a moving laboratory for students. HS Shashank, a technical trainer from the Eicher RCDC in Mysuru, led the sessions by conducting live demonstrations on the inner workings of commercial vehicle systems. Students gained direct exposure to modern BS-VI engine mechanics, fault diagnosis methods, and advanced vehicle electronics while learning about current industry expectations and career pathways.
Industry-Academia Collaboration
Emphasizing the value of the collaboration, University vice principal Dr Kamal Basha noted that acquiring industry-relevant skills is crucial for student employability. He highlighted that practical initiatives like the mobile van program play a vital role in bridging the traditional gap between academic curricula and the rapidly evolving engineering industry.
