Nothing Cancels CMF Phone 3 Pro Launch This Year Due to Rising Memory Costs
Nothing Cancels CMF Phone 3 Pro Launch This Year

Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis has announced that the company will not launch a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro this year, effectively ending months of speculation about a potential "CMF Phone 3 Pro" debut. The announcement comes shortly after the tech brand teased upcoming products through its trademark Pokémon-themed marketing campaign.

Why Nothing Will Not Launch a CMF Phone This Year

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Evangelidis explained that the decision to scrap the smartphone was driven entirely by the increasing costs of memory and storage components. According to the executive, current market conditions make it nearly impossible for CMF to deliver a meaningful upgrade over the CMF Phone 2 Pro without significantly increasing the final retail price for consumers.

He emphasized that CMF chose to remain transparent with its community rather than release what could be perceived as an iterative update. For context, the popular CMF Phone 2 Pro launched in April 2025 at Rs 18,999, boasting a Dimensity 7300 Pro processor and a triple camera setup.

However, he said that there are plenty of launches lined up for this year, including entries into new categories. He also hinted that Nothing's smartphone launch cycle is not over yet, suggesting that another phone announcement could be on the horizon.

Full Statement from Nothing Co-Founder Akis Evangelidis

"A lot of you have been asking when the next CMF phone is coming and as always we'd rather be transparent. CMF Phone 2 Pro was a product we were incredibly proud of. It even won Budget Phone of the Year from MKBHD and the response from all of you made it even more special. We were working on a successor but with memory prices where they are right now, we can't build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF. As a result, we've decided not to launch a new CMF phone this year. We'd rather be upfront about that than ship something we're not proud of. That said, there's still a lot to look forward to from @cmfbynothing for this year. We have several new products launching as well as some entirely new categories. More on that soon! Oh and the smartphone launch season at Nothing isn't over yet. More to come. Soon. Stay tuned."
