Tewari calls for balancing AI advancement with human values

Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari has emphasised that artificial intelligence (AI), despite its rapid progress, must be complemented by human wisdom, ethics and leadership. He made the remarks while addressing a management talk organised by the Chandigarh Management Association (CMA).

Tewari noted that India’s planned investment of approximately $1.1 billion in AI over the next five years is a significant step, placing it alongside investments by many developed countries. However, he cautioned that while the country is rightly focusing on promoting AI adoption and innovation, policymakers must also pay equal attention to its potential side-effects and the ethical, social and regulatory challenges to ensure responsible and safe development and use of this technology.
