A shocking new case involving streamer and singer D4vd has captured widespread online attention after a Google employee was arrested for allegedly using confidential company data to profit from online bets. Federal prosecutors claim that the employee exploited private Google search information to place wagers on the prediction website Polymarket. These bets were linked to D4vd becoming one of the most searched individuals on Google in 2025. Authorities assert that the man made approximately $1.2 million from the bets after risking less than $1,000.
Details of the Alleged Scheme
The employee was identified as Michele Spagnuolo, an Italian citizen who worked as a software engineer at Google. According to court documents, Spagnuolo allegedly had access to Google’s internal “Year in Search” data before it was released to the public. Prosecutors say he discovered that D4vd had surpassed rapper Kendrick Lamar as the most searched person on Google in 2025. Shortly thereafter, he allegedly placed multiple bets using a Polymarket account named “AlphaRaccoon.”
High Payout Odds
Officials report that the betting market had assigned almost no probability for D4vd to become the top searched person on Google that year. Consequently, the bets carried enormous payout odds. Prosecutors believe Spagnuolo used proprietary information from his job to unfairly win the bets before the search results became publicly known. Authorities also claim he later attempted to conceal the source of the funds.
Legal Proceedings
Spagnuolo was arrested in New York and charged with money laundering, wire fraud, and commodities fraud. He appeared before a federal judge but did not enter a plea during the hearing. Reports indicate he was subsequently released on a $2.25 million bond while the case proceeds.
D4vd Not Implicated
D4vd himself was not accused of participating in the betting scheme. However, his name became central to the investigation because the bets focused on his popularity in Google searches. The streamer and singer is currently in jail after being accused of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez in April 2025. D4vd has pleaded not guilty to that charge.
Public Reaction
The case has quickly become one of the most talked-about stories online, as it combines elements of tech companies, online betting, and internet fame in a single investigation. More updates are expected as the legal case moves forward.
