According to a Financial Times report cited by Reuters, LeCun has initiated early-stage discussions to secure funding for his new artificial intelligence enterprise. The news comes from individuals with direct knowledge of the matter, though neither LeCun nor Meta has made an official announcement.
Yann LeCun, often celebrated as one of the "Godfathers of AI," joined Meta back in 2013 with the specific mission of establishing the Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR) unit. His groundbreaking work in deep learning, particularly the invention of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), forms the backbone of contemporary image, video, and speech recognition technologies worldwide.
Meta's AI Reorganization and Leadership Changes
