Zhang Yiming is a Chinese entrepreneur and software engineer who founded ByteDance in 2012. Born in Fujian Province, China, he studied software engineering before embarking on a technology career. He established the company in Beijing, initially focusing on content recommendation technology. Later, ByteDance launched a news aggregation platform that used artificial intelligence to personalize content for users. Over the years, the company expanded into video-sharing platforms, social media applications, education technology, gaming, enterprise software, and more. Today, ByteDance is best known for TikTok, Douyin, Toutiao, CapCut, and other AI-driven services. Japan's Tadashi Yanai and Masayoshi Son also rank in the top five, with net worths of $72.5 billion and $72.0 billion, respectively.
