Gujarat Launches Operation Mule Hunt 2.0 Against Cybercrime

Gandhinagar: The state home department has launched Operation Mule Hunt 2.0 — a coordinated campaign against cybercrime. Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi chaired a meeting of top police officers in Gandhinagar on Monday night, and officers from districts joined through video conference, an official statement said.

Meeting Highlights

The statement said that orders have been issued to carry out investigations into mule accounts across all districts from Tuesday. State police chief K L N Rao and other senior police officials participated in the meeting, while police commissioners from all cities and SPs of all districts attended it, the statement added.

Operation Scope

This new phase aims to intensify the crackdown on cybercriminals who use mule accounts to launder money. The campaign will involve coordinated efforts across all law enforcement agencies in the state. Officials emphasized that strict action will be taken against those involved in cyber fraud.

The meeting also discussed strategies to raise public awareness about cybercrime and preventive measures. Citizens are urged to report suspicious activities related to mule accounts to the nearest police station or cybercrime helpline.
