The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has commenced the first phase of the population census, known as the 'House Listing and Housing Census,' starting from June 1. This initiative aligns with the central government's guidelines and aims to systematically document all residential and non-residential structures in the city.
Deployment of Enumerators and Supervisors
Approximately 13,000 enumerators and supervisors have been appointed to cover an estimated 10,700 blocks across Ahmedabad during this initial phase. Each enumerator and supervisor will personally visit the blocks assigned to them. To ensure comprehensive coverage, a layout map of each area will be prepared to understand the geographical layout and confirm that no house is overlooked.
House Numbering and Listing Process
To facilitate precise identification, all residential, non-residential, institutional, and vacant houses in the city will be sequentially numbered. A systematic list of each house will be compiled, noting its purpose of use, such as residential, shop, office, or other categories.
Data Collection Details
Primary details regarding the condition of the house will be collected, including the availability of drinking water, electricity, sanitation facilities, drainage, cooking gas, and vehicles or other physical assets present. Additionally, the name of the head of the family residing in the house and the preliminary number of family members will be recorded.
This comprehensive data collection effort is designed to provide accurate demographic and housing information for urban planning and resource allocation.
