Ahmedabad experienced a slight decrease in maximum temperature on Thursday, though the change was barely noticeable for those outdoors. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the mercury settled at 41.7 degrees Celsius, which is 0.2 degrees below normal and 2 degrees lower than the 43.7 degrees recorded for three consecutive days.
Forecast for Friday and Beyond
The IMD has predicted that the maximum temperature on Friday will hover around 42 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature on Thursday was 28.1 degrees Celsius, 0.2 degrees higher than normal, indicating near-normal conditions.
For Gujarat, the forecast suggests that maximum temperatures over the next seven days are likely to exceed 40 degrees Celsius in isolated pockets. However, a change in weather is expected to bring light to moderate rain to Navsari, Valsad, Dang, Amreli, and Gir-Somnath on Friday. On Saturday, these areas, along with Tapi and Bhavnagar, may also receive rainfall. The weather is likely to remain dry thereafter.
Hottest Spots on Thursday
On Thursday, Rajkot recorded the highest maximum temperature at 43.5 degrees Celsius. Surendranagar followed with 42 degrees, while Amreli and Kandla registered 41.7 and 41.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, as the heatwave conditions persist across the region.
