Amul AI Launched in Gujarat to Empower 36 Lakh Dairy Farmers

Gujarat Chief Minister Unveils Revolutionary Amul AI Platform for Dairy Sector

In a landmark event in Anand on Wednesday, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel officially launched 'Amul AI', a groundbreaking artificial intelligence initiative designed to transform the state's cooperative dairy landscape. The launch ceremony marked a significant technological advancement aimed at empowering women milk producers and strengthening the entire dairy value chain.

Sarlaben: The 24/7 Digital Assistant for Gujarat's Dairy Farmers

The centerpiece of this initiative is a sophisticated AI-powered digital assistant named 'Sarlaben', which will provide comprehensive, round-the-clock guidance in simple Gujarati language. This innovative platform is set to benefit over 36 lakh milk producers spread across 18,500 villages throughout Gujarat, offering them instant access to verified information and expert advice.

Key features of the Amul AI platform include:

  • Seamless integration with Amul's Automatic Milk Collection System
  • Direct connection with the existing Pashudhan application
  • Personalized recommendations on cattle health management
  • Detailed vaccination schedules and breeding guidance
  • Optimized feeding practices and nutritional advice
  • Information about relevant government schemes and subsidies

Political Vision and Grassroots Empowerment

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized that this launch represents far more than just a technological rollout. "This initiative embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Digital India and grassroots empowerment," Patel stated during the ceremony. "Technology has successfully integrated even the smallest vendors into the digital mainstream. Now, Amul AI will empower our sisters in villages by providing them with verified information instantly in simple, accessible language."

The emotional highlight of the event came when women dairy producers from across Gujarat presented a large floral 'rakhi' intended for Prime Minister Modi, affectionately referring to him as their "brother" for his consistent efforts in safeguarding the interests of milk producers. Chief Minister Patel formally accepted this symbolic gesture on behalf of the Prime Minister.

Cooperative Leadership and International Context

Prominent leaders from Gujarat's cooperative movement participated in the launch ceremony, including Gujarat Assembly Speaker and Banas Dairy Chairman Shankar Chaudhary, along with Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani. They highlighted how the Central Government's strategic decision to exclude dairy from trade negotiations with the European Union, New Zealand, and the United States has protected the livelihoods of millions of producers across the country.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), revealed the technological backbone supporting this ambitious project. "Amul AI leverages our extensive IT infrastructure, which already manages over 200 crore milk procurement transactions annually, along with comprehensive veterinary and cattle data," Mehta explained.

Accessibility and Future Prospects

The AI assistant will be accessible through multiple channels to ensure maximum reach:

  1. The dedicated Amul Farmer mobile application
  2. Voice-based services compatible with feature phones
  3. Integration with existing dairy management systems

This multi-channel approach ensures that even farmers with basic mobile phones can benefit from the platform's capabilities. Shankar Maruwada, Co-founder and CEO of the EkStep Foundation, praised the initiative as "a significant step in deploying advanced technology for genuine rural transformation."

The Amul AI platform is expected to be showcased at the upcoming India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where it will be positioned as a pioneering model for driving sustainable growth in the rural economy through technological innovation.
