In preparation for hosting lakhs of devotees and tourists in the coming months, the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Canacona, Goa has undergone a significant digital transformation. The Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C) has implemented comprehensive security and connectivity upgrades at the prominent religious site.
Enhanced Security Infrastructure
The mathematics now features an extensive surveillance network with more than 200 CCTV cameras installed throughout the premises. What makes this security upgrade particularly noteworthy is that several cameras are equipped with advanced AI technology capable of performing sophisticated monitoring functions.
According to official statements, these AI-enhanced cameras can monitor headcount in crowded areas and identify habitual offenders based on data provided by police personnel. The surveillance system has been specifically designed for crowd monitoring and keeping watch over anti-social elements during the expected large gatherings.
Connectivity Boost for Visitors and Residents
Complementing the security measures, the mathematics now offers enhanced internet connectivity with 100 new Wi-Fi access points deployed across the facility. The implementation was carried out through Infotech Corporation of Goa Ltd (ITG), with a strategic approach to both immediate and long-term needs.
Of the total Wi-Fi hotspots installed, 57 are permanent installations that will continue to benefit local residents and devotees long after the celebration period concludes. The remaining access points represent temporary additions specifically intended to manage peak footfall during the upcoming events.
Comprehensive Digital Infrastructure Upgrade
The connectivity improvements extend beyond Wi-Fi services. While Canacona already had 5G mobile networks from Jio and BSNL, the digital infrastructure around the math premises has been further strengthened with the addition of Airtel services through Indus Towers. This multi-operator approach ensures robust mobile connectivity for all visitors regardless of their service provider.
Rohan Khaunte, Minister for IT, emphasized the broader impact of these initiatives, stating that the deployment will seamlessly support immediate celebration needs while providing lasting benefits to the local community.
The comprehensive digital upgrade at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math represents a significant step forward in integrating technology with traditional pilgrimage sites, ensuring both safety and connectivity for the thousands expected to visit in the coming months.
