Dehradun: Uttarakhand has officially launched the first phase of Census 2027, which includes house listing and housing enumeration, as part of the Har Dwar Dastak campaign. The exercise will run from April 25 to May 24. Enumerators will collect data on household amenities and assets through a set of 33 questions.
Self-Enumeration Success
Between April 10 and April 23, over 62,000 citizens completed self-enumeration digitally. Dehradun district led the initiative with 10,884 residents participating. This digital self-enumeration process allowed residents to provide their information online before the door-to-door enumeration began.
Massive Workforce Deployed
For the enumeration exercise, the state government has appointed 20,859 enumerators and 3,670 supervisors. The entire state has been divided into 29,567 digital House Listing Blocks, which have been mapped through the HLBC portal. This systematic division ensures comprehensive coverage of all households.
First Fully Digital Census
Director Iva Ashish Srivastav stated that this is India's first fully mobile app-based digital census, marking a significant milestone in the Digital India campaign. The use of a mobile application for data collection is expected to improve accuracy and efficiency compared to traditional paper-based methods.
