The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Karnal, Mr. Anish Yadav, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing Smart City projects in the city. During the visit, he reviewed the progress of various works and set strict deadlines for their completion to ensure timely delivery of the projects.
Inspection of Key Projects
Mr. Yadav visited multiple sites, including the redevelopment of the old bus stand, construction of smart roads, and the installation of intelligent traffic management systems. He also examined the work on sewage treatment plants and the beautification of parks under the Smart City Mission.
Emphasis on Quality and Timeliness
The DC stressed the importance of maintaining high-quality standards while adhering to the stipulated timelines. He directed the officials to expedite the work and resolve any bottlenecks that could delay the projects. He also instructed the contractors to deploy adequate workforce and machinery to meet the deadlines.
During the inspection, the DC interacted with the engineers and supervisors to understand the challenges faced on the ground. He assured them of full support from the district administration to overcome any hurdles.
Deadlines Set for Various Works
Specific deadlines were announced for different components of the Smart City project. The redevelopment of the old bus stand is expected to be completed by the end of next month. The smart roads project, which includes the construction of footpaths, cycle tracks, and drainage systems, has a deadline of three months. The intelligent traffic management system is scheduled to be operational within 45 days.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the Smart City projects are aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. He urged the officials to focus on aspects that directly benefit the public, such as better roads, efficient public transport, and enhanced green spaces.
Mr. Yadav also reviewed the progress of the integrated command and control center, which will serve as the nerve center for monitoring city services. He directed the IT department to ensure seamless integration of all systems.
Monitoring and Review Mechanism
A strict monitoring mechanism has been put in place to track the progress of the projects. Weekly review meetings will be held to assess the status and address any issues. The DC warned that any delay or compromise on quality would not be tolerated, and strict action would be taken against defaulting contractors.
The inspection concluded with the DC expressing satisfaction with the overall progress but calling for sustained efforts to meet the ambitious targets set under the Smart City Mission. He reiterated the commitment of the district administration to transform Karnal into a model smart city.
