Tata Motors has introduced the new top-spec Ultra variant of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari in diesel guise. Previously, the Ultra trim was limited to the petrol versions of these SUVs, offered as part of the Fearless and Accomplished variants, respectively. Now, the company has extended the Ultra Red Dark edition treatment to the diesel-powered versions of both models.
Booking and Pricing Details
Interested customers can book the SUVs online or visit their nearest dealership. Deliveries are expected to begin soon. Tata Motors has announced the starting prices for the diesel Ultra variants at Rs 23.84 lakh for the Harrier and Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Safari. In the petrol range, the Ultra Red Dark editions are priced Rs 68,000 higher for the Harrier and Rs 50,000 higher for the Safari compared to the standard Ultra trims. A similar premium is anticipated for the diesel versions.
Design and Features
The Red Dark edition brings several cosmetic updates, including an all-black exterior treatment complemented by red detailing on the grille, headlamps, and brake callipers, along with 19-inch blacked-out alloy wheels. The diesel Tata Harrier also gets an exclusive Nitro Crimson exterior shade. Inside, the cabin adopts a red-and-black ‘Carnelian Red’ theme with matching leatherette seat upholstery.
In the Tata Harrier lineup, the Ultra trim is positioned above the Fearless X+, while in the Tata Safari range, it sits above the Accomplished X+. The variant adds extra features and equipment to both SUVs, including a larger 14.53-inch infotainment system with a Samsung OLED display, an in-built dashcam, an on-board navigation system, Dolby Atmos, a digital interior rearview mirror (IRVM), an app suite, a white-and-brown dual-tone interior theme, memory function for ORVMs, front and rear camera washers, a sliding front armrest, a 65W Type-C charging port, and Level 2 ADAS. The Safari additionally gets ventilation for second-row occupants.
Engine Specifications
Both the Harrier and Safari diesel are powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine producing 168 hp and 380 Nm of torque. The Ultra Red Dark variant is offered exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission, while lower variants of both SUVs continue to offer a six-speed manual gearbox option.
