A significant discovery of 49 silver coins, suspected to be from the Mughal period, was made during excavation work for a house foundation in Reguwa village, located in Sagar district, on Wednesday.
Discovery Details
The coins were found by labourers who were digging the foundation of a house under construction. They stumbled upon an earthen pot buried underground. Upon opening the pot, they discovered dozens of silver coins inscribed with Urdu-Persian script.
Action Taken
The house owner, Dayal Ahirwar, promptly informed the police and subsequently deposited the coins at the Garhakota police station. The local tehsildar was also notified and later seized the coins. The Archaeological Department has been informed for further examination.

Police officials stated that the coins appear to be old and may belong to the Mughal era. However, their exact age and historical significance will be confirmed only after a thorough examination by experts. The coins will be studied to determine their origin, period, and archaeological value.
