Asiatic Lion Rescued from 40-Foot Well in Amreli

Amreli: A two-year-old Asiatic lion was rescued after it fell into a 40-foot-deep open well near Khari village in Rajula taluka of Amreli district on Friday.

Rescue Operation

According to forest officials, villagers heard the lion’s roars from the well and immediately alerted the Rajula forest department. A rescue team rushed to the spot and launched an operation using ropes and specialised equipment to safely pull the animal out. After several hours of effort, the lion was rescued.

Medical Examination and Release

Following the rescue, the animal was shifted to the Babarkot Animal Care Centre for preliminary treatment and medical examination. Rajula range forest officer (RFO) said the team acted swiftly after receiving information about the incident. “The lion has been rescued safely and sent for health check-up. After medical examination, it will be released back into the forest area,” the official said.
