On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Himachal Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a statewide plantation drive with an ambitious target of planting two lakh saplings. State BJP president Dr. Rajeev Bindal emphasized that environmental conservation has evolved from a mere concern to a commitment essential for human survival. He urged people from all walks of life to join collective efforts to protect the environment.
Campaign Inspired by PM Modi's Appeal
Addressing mediapersons in Nahan, Dr. Bindal stated that the BJP has been running the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign for several years, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal. As part of this initiative, the party has launched a plantation drive across the state on World Environment Day, which will continue over the next two months.
Planting Strategy and Targets
Dr. Bindal explained that large-scale plantation activities would be undertaken in July, considering the challenges of protecting saplings during the hotter month of June. The BJP has set a target of planting 25 saplings at each of the nearly 8,000 booths across the state, which would bring the total number of saplings planted to approximately two lakh.
Awareness Campaign for Modi Government's Achievements
Dr. Bindal also announced that the party would launch a statewide awareness campaign on June 7 to mark 12 years of the Modi-led central government. The campaign will include cleanliness drives, media interactions, and public outreach programmes highlighting the Centre's achievements in governance, infrastructure, welfare, and national security.
The plantation drive is part of the BJP's ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability and involve communities in green initiatives. The party aims to mobilize volunteers and local leaders to ensure the successful implementation of the drive across Himachal Pradesh.
