Details of the accident
According to police, the couple was returning home after visiting a relative when a truck hit their motorcycle from behind. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle got stuck under the truck, and the truck driver continued driving, dragging the couple along the road. Witnesses told police that the truck did not stop even after the collision, and the couple's bodies were crushed under the wheels.
The victims have been identified as Ramashankar Yadav (35) and his wife Sunita Devi (30), residents of a nearby village. They were rushed to a hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Rising road accidents in Uttar Pradesh
This incident highlights the growing concern over road safety in Uttar Pradesh. According to recent data, the state accounts for a significant number of road accidents in India, with speeding and reckless driving being major causes. Authorities have been urged to implement stricter traffic enforcement and install speed breakers and signages on accident-prone stretches.
The family of the deceased has been informed, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.
