Heritage Club Organises Talk on Archaeology at DAV Public School
Patna: The Heritage Club of DAV Public School, BSEB Colony, conducted an enlightening session titled “The Importance of Archaeology and Stratigraphy in History” in the school auditorium. Sunil Kumar Jha, additional director of Bihar Museum, delivered the keynote address as the chief speaker. The programme was inaugurated by principal and assistant regional officer Avinash Chandra Jha, along with teachers and students.
In his welcome address, the principal emphasised the significance of such events in helping students understand and appreciate India’s rich cultural heritage. Sunil Kumar Jha presented a detailed exposition on archaeological excavation methods, major discoveries from the Harappan, Mauryan and Gupta periods, and the preservation of historical artefacts. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer round, marked by enthusiastic participation from students.
Cyber Security Workshops Conducted in Patna Schools
Patna: The cybercrime and security unit of Bihar Police has launched a statewide public awareness campaign to promote digital safety, particularly among students. As part of this initiative, cyber security workshops were organised at Gyan Niketan School and Doon Public School in the city. Officials briefed students, teachers and parents on various cyber threats, including online gaming frauds, fake links, social media scams, OTP fraud, AI-based scams, fake job offers, digital arrest, cyberbullying and fake customer care.
Similar programmes were conducted in several districts, including Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Jamui, Gaya, Supaul, Bettiah, Arwal, Kishanganj, Saran, Saharsa, Siwan, Khagaria, Madhubani, Purnia and Samastipur. Using real-life examples, officials explained how minor mistakes can compromise digital identity and urged people to report cybercrimes through helpline number 1930 or the Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Students actively participated and raised queries on online safety.
Sainik School Purulia Clinches Hockey Tournament Title
Biharsharif: The four-day All India Sainik Schools Group-Level Hockey Tournament (2026–27) concluded with a felicitation ceremony at Sainik School Nalanda on Thursday. Chief guest Colonel Bhupender Kumar, principal of the institution, attended the closing ceremony. Director of sports Vijit Kumar welcomed the gathering and announced the tournament results, according to the school’s media in-charge Brajesh Kumar.
The tournament, held from May 11, saw participation from 192 cadets representing Sainik schools in Nalanda, Gopalganj, Tilaiya and Purulia in the Boys Under-15, Boys Under-17 and Girls Under-17 categories. Sainik School Purulia emerged as the overall champion, while Sainik School Nalanda finished as runners-up. Nalanda won the Boys Under-17 title, while Purulia secured top honours in the Boys Under-15 and Girls Under-17 categories.
The chief guest lauded the cadets for their discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship, and said sports play a key role in character building and leadership. He later declared the tournament closed.
