According to officials from the Karnataka Tourism Department, the project will receive funding under the central scheme, with an estimated budget of ₹50 crore. The Ecological Experience Zone will cover an area of approximately 100 acres, connecting the zoo's eastern boundary with the lake's western edge.
Key Features and Amenities
The zone will include a dedicated walking trail, cycle paths, and electric shuttle services to facilitate easy movement between the two sites. Planned amenities include bird-watching towers, interpretive centres showcasing local flora and fauna, and eco-friendly cafés. A senior tourism department official stated, "This integration will offer tourists a holistic nature experience, allowing them to explore the zoo's animal exhibits and the lake's avian diversity in a single, seamless visit."
Environmental and Economic Impact
The project is expected to boost local tourism by attracting more visitors and extending their average stay in Mysuru.
