In a significant development for veterinary education in Maharashtra, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has granted approval for the establishment of the first private veterinary and animal sciences institute in the Pune division. The letter of permission has been issued for the Tatyasaheb Kore Institute of Veterinary and Animal Science, with an approved intake capacity of 80 students.
Approval Process and Inspections
The approval was granted after rigorous inspections conducted by expert committees from the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) and the Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU), Nagpur. Vinay Kore, MLA and chairman of the Warana Industrial and Educational Complex, confirmed this development, highlighting the thorough evaluation process that the institute underwent to meet the required standards.
Academic Programme and Admissions
The institute will offer the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) programme, a five-year degree course designed to train students in animal health, disease management, and livestock production. Admissions will be conducted through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), ensuring a merit-based selection process. The first batch of students is expected to commence their studies from the academic year 2026–27.
This new institute is set to address the growing demand for skilled veterinary professionals in the region, providing quality education and practical training in animal sciences. The establishment of this private college is expected to enhance access to veterinary education and contribute to the development of the livestock sector in Pune division and beyond.
